New Description for Stock Trading Riches

Posted on 15:42 by Unknown
I've updated the description for my book "Stock Trading Riches" on both my publisher's site and on Amazon.com.

I wanted to emphasize less on the idea of zen minimalism, and more on the fact that it is a practical and successful stock trading system.

I really want to share the system that turned my trading around and allowed me to become a successful investor.

Here is the new description (it will take a few days to appear on Amazon.com):

This book introduces a simple and elegant mathematical formula for successfully investing in the stock market. It does not depend on the market moving in trends or creating chart patterns.

Two New Testimonials For My "Stock Trading Riches" Book

Posted on 15:27 by Unknown
I received some more nice feed back about my book Stock Trading Riches:

"Your book is very good.  I like this approach better than Robert Lichello's A.I.M. I hope you have great success.  There is so much misinformation in the media and in print on investing.  Rebalancing to a constant value is sensible and very simple to do - free from emotion and bias."

Mark H., Dallas, TX

"...It's not a long book. But it is well-edited to "just what you need to know". Puri doesn't give you a bunch of extra crap and promotional hype. He tells you how to implement the system, take it or leave it."

Jake W., Anchorage, AK

My publisher just released "Stock Trading Riches" with my 2009 updates.

This new, updated version is now available. It has replaced the old version.

I'm excited about the updates because they came directly from reader's emails from the last 2 years.

The book is better than ever. It has been expanded with Excel spreadsheet download links, material on "The Great Recession", and more information on topics such as: stock picking, funds, market analysis, and IPO trading strategies.

Why Multi-tasking Costs An Internet Marketer Money

Posted on 10:18 by Unknown
Let's say that you have three internet marketing projects that you would like to implement - call them A, B, and C.

To keep the example simple, let's say that each one will take 3 full months to set up and, after that, each one will generate $100 per month passively.

What happens if we try to multi-task and set the three projects up simultaneously? Since we can only devote 1/3 of our time to each project, it takes 9 months before A, B, and C are up. At that point, we will make $300 per month. So, in the first year, we will end up making $900 ($0 for the first 9 months and then $900 for the last 3 months).

What happens if we single-task the projects? We get project A up after 3 months. Then, during the next 3 months, we will earn $100/month from project A while we set up project B. In the next 3 months, we make $200/month while we set up project C. Finally, we earn $300/month for the final three months of the year. So, in the first year, we end up making $1800 ($0 for the first 3 months, $300 for the next 3 months, $600 for the next 3 months, then $900 for the last 3 months).

The University of Chicago "Bump" for iPhone: Innovation Can Be Simple

Posted on 20:54 by Unknown
Today, I read an article in the Chicago Tribune that caused me to experience one of those "slap your head - why didn't I think of it!" moments.

President Obama, a former U of C professor, helped to popularize the fist bump.

Now, two students at the University of Chicago business school developed a company called Bump Technologies. Their iPhone app, called Bump, lets users transfer data from one iPhone (or iPod Touch)to another by bumping them.

You can transfer all your contact info or just some data (like phone numbers).

This shows that there are always simple and elegant opportunities waiting to be capitalized on.

Interview with of Leo Babauta of Zenhabits.net

Posted on 14:20 by Unknown
Zenhabits.net is one of the top 100 blogs. It's filled with great advice about simplicity, frugality, success, etc.

A blog called New-Web-Business.com did an enlightening interview with Babauta about his success.

Some highlights:

1. When he gets stressed, he remembers to focus on one thing at a time.

2. "The Secret" can work because, if you really believe in something, want it, and visualize it, you can achieve it. But the next key is action. "There is no cosmic force - you have to take action.

3. Secrets to success in blogging are great content, interacting with readers through comments and emails, and writing guest articles on other blogs.

4. Reduce writer's block by always having a list of ideas for articles.

Value of A Small Passive Income Stream

Posted on 12:43 by Unknown
Monevator is a motivational blog for armchair investors.

It has a good article on Why a little passive income from a side project is worth a lot more than you think.

If your project "only" makes you $5 a day, that is $1,865 per year. But, at an
interest rate of 3%, this is like having more than $60,000 in the bank!

If you create a "set it and forget it" project, and it only trickles in a little bit of money, don't be discouraged. Just work on setting up more of them.

Joy of the Down Sell

Posted on 09:27 by Unknown
Money Ning had a good post about how restaurants and businesses try to up sell us - for example, by a waitress suggesting wine with our meal.

Today, I experienced the opposite - one of those rare cases of a down-sell!

It made me feel good!

We have domestic service with Dish Network, and my wife wanted to add an international channel.

I called up to add it, and the guy told me I had to get a second satellite dish for $56.

Somehow we got disconnected (turned out to be lucky for me) and I called back and spoke to a woman.

She told me that, instead of paying $56 for a second dish, they now have a “super dish” that can take the place of both the international and domestic dishes. I could get my domestic dish swapped for this one for free.

So, now, instead of having to pay $56 and having 2 dishes wired up together on the side of my house, I’ll pay nothing, and have only one dish to worry about!

See how powerful the down sell (suggesting ways to save your customer money) can be! Here, I now had a good experience with Dish Network and I'm telling everybody about it.
